158 Rivington St between Clinton and Suffolk Sts (212-375-8128)
With a website as allusive as its Rivington St store, Alife holds the street version of the Manolo Totem (how offensive is this $900 mule? Sorry, I digress....). Reebok and Alife's newest "tennis shoe" is an extravagantly detailed version of the Reebok pump ( I still remember my first pair... my mom thought I was crazy, but I rocked those purple pumps!). They're in store now, but supplies are limited. To be the first of your block stop by or give them a call....
If you can't get to NYC, (or can't find the unmarked Alife Rivington Club) and still have that
sneaker passion, try clicking through JB Classics.
JB has a cool story: while growing up he had a sneaker love...an obsession, if you will.
He started collecting sneakers and sketching his designs and eventually started his own company in 2002. His designs intermingle the worlds of fashion, footwear, and street culture into truly wearable art.
Me? I'm still looking for a wearable track spike... Take away the spikes and add a heel.... can you see it? (The black and orange shoe would be perfect for this Halloween!).
Actually I'm most comfortable in my Adidas flip flops... but anyway, more later.
