So, I realize I forgot to tell you about Yana this morning! ... Sorry I was in kind of a rush. Anyway-- my designer a la moment is Yana Gorbulsky of Supayana. From her site:
Supayana is a one-of-a-kind clothing line run by New York designer Yana Gorbulsky. She was born in Moscow and now lives in Brooklyn, NY. In 2002, Supayana was born. Yana started selling her garments on eBay - modest pieces consisting mostly of simple reconstructed t-shirts. Keeping one eye on street fashion, Yana continued to experiment with her designs, moving further away from simple t-shirt reconstruction to crafting versatile garments from scratch. The response to her creative efforts were tremendous. Supayana designs do not subscribe to any particular subculture, style, or fad. Yana finds inspiration from both runway ready-to-wear and street fashion; both vintage and modern trends; and most importantly, the maniacal desire to transfigure everything she touches into something cute.
